Review: Stargazer Neon Eyeshadows

When I was at IMATS, don’t ask me why, but I was under the impression that the Sleek acid palette was being discontinued. So I thought I’d get my hands on some neon eyeshadows and try these from Stargazer.

So now I just need to move it and try and get a cyber-punk look planned soon

I had to be quite careful with these because the packaging is not that great, the kind of delicate plastic packaging that can make the whole pan pop if you jog it too hard. Which is exactly what happened with the green shade, so I’m going to have to re-press that!

To be honest I wasn’t expecting much of these since I absolutely love the Acid pallet from Sleek, but they surprised me! The texture was dry but not chalky, while it wouldn’t replace the acid palette it does have pros (as well as cons).

The white is the runt of the litter for this set. I had to swipe it about 3 times to get the colour shown and even then it was ‘ashy’. The other shades had been swiped (twice) but since that is the case with the majority of white eyeshadows I wasn’t that surprised. Though the other eyeshadows did impress me.

Because these are quite dry you absolutely need a primer or they’re going to look chalky. If I had to score them out of six I would probably give them a 3.5. You do need to work a bit with them but they’re certainly not bad quality.

You can get them here (**)

i’m hoping this means that the sleek acid palette is not being discontinued, because i really want to get it for christmas. the green and pink look very pigmented! I’d thought about getting some of the stargazer lipsticks because of all the really cool colours but i heard they contained lead! Can you confirm???

Those colors are very pretty. I don’t have or use primer so what brand would you recommend? I use foundation so it doesn’t last very long on my eyes. Please answer. Thanks so much. Tia :)

I really like Stargazers eye shadows, but I have had a bad experience with them as well. They are fabulously pigmented, but all three I have broke within a few months. I have had a neon/UV blue, and black ones. Th first black I had survived for about half a year, then I bought the blue, that broke after not even a month, and my last black made it to three months only… I tried to fix them, but they keep breaking apart =(
