Thoughts on a Movie: Rise of the Planet of the Apes

There aren’t that many films that I watch and think “Wow that was good!!”, this was one of those movies.

To be honest when I first heard that they were filming another Planet of the apes movie I was really expecting it to be awful. I didn’t like the Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2001) at all, and just felt like they should leave the original films alone.

The only thing that really made we watch this version was the fact that Andy Serkis and James Franco were staring in it and Weta Digital were doing the effects.

What I loved about it was how much it paid tribute to the original moves, the part were Cesar yells “No!”……goosebumps!

They some how managed to write a story which could be a completely new start to the series, while still paying tribute to the original moves.

The acting was fantastic, Serkis was phenomenal as usual, and while we’re on the topic of the acting…the film did kind of make me wonder what Tom Felton would be like acting as a good guy.

Seeing him with a tan was weird enough, but I kept half expecting him to pull out a wand and start dueling with Cesar…hehe…it’s only a matter of time till someone dose a spoof of that now on You Tube.

As a longtime “Planet of the Apes” franchise fan, I was so relieved when I watched this movie. It wasn’t a failure like the 2001 version was. The apes, particularly Caesar and the other three main apes, were amazingly acted and rendered. Hopefully Andy Serkis gets some sort of Oscar recognition, since this should prove to the Academy once and for all that he’s a viable actor just as much as any on-screen actor is. Caesar has always been one of my favorite sci-fi characters, and to see him played so eloquently is mind-boggling and just awesome.

    My review:

Also, I’m a big fan of your YouTube channel. Every tutorial is really informative and expertly done.

Well said Rich. Im an acid soccer fan and have been watching the beautiful game since I was 6. It is really sad to see that cheating (and I think you were too kind here referring to it as diving) has become so pervasive in the top form of the game.

Thanks for this inspiring post, Kristan. I think you made it possible for me to get back in there & do the days writing (after one more coffee.) For me, first drafts are all about practicing being willing to be boring. Being willing to be wrong. Being willing to be tedious, derivative, long-winded, confused. I have to tell myself every morning, Im going to write whatever is there to be written today, even if its terrible. Only when Ive done enough of that will I have a pile of material that I can gleefully rewrite, burn, and pillage into the shape of what I really wanted to say.

I think if a team worked hard and got to the point where they earned home team advantage the whole way, they should be able to play at home. CV shouldnt have had to move any of their games, but I guess its about the money.

I must say that youve done a awesome job with this. Also, the blog loads very fast for me on Firefox. Exceptional Blog!

Season 8 should be great. One way or another it makes no difference if Lucas and Peyton are back for Brooke and Julians wedding. Actually, Brooke doesnt need Peyton, Haley is her best friend now and she will most likely be her maid of honor since Brooke was hers. I would like to see Dan back, Paul Johansson is great for this show!

Good points?I would observe that as any person who in reality doesnt write on blogs so much (actually, this may be my first publish), I dont suppose the time period lurker could be very becoming to a non-posting reader. Its now not your fault in the least , however perhaps the blogosphere could get a hold of a greater, non-creepy title for the ninety% folks that experience reading the content material .

The beauty of these blogging engines and CMS platforms is the lack of limitations and ease of manipulation that allows developers to implement rich content and ‘skin’ the site in such a way that with very small effort one would never notice what it is making the site tick all without limiting content and effectiveness.
