Review: Lush Catastrophe Cosmetic

I don’t know if i’ve mentioned this before but this is hands down my FAVORITE face mask! While there are many other masks that I love to use this one is the one that I can be sure will help my skin no mater what the problem is. While garlic is the primary ingredient in this, thankfully it does not smell of it.

Primarily this mask is fantastic for acne break outs, but it’s also great for dry or irritated skin

As much as I love garlic for how quickly it kicks acne’s butt, I would rather not smell of it. I’ve mentioned before that I’m not the best one with description when it comes to smells, but I would describe this as a creamy smell. The smell reminded me so much of creamy oats I was surprised there wasn’t any in the ingredients.

One of my favorite things about this mask, apart from the fact its amazing for my skin, is the texture. I HATE those thick drying cement texture some masks have where you have to scrape it over your skin. The texture for this is a bit like porridge.

Ingredients: Kaolin, Fresh Green Grapes, Fresh Free Range Eggs, Honey, Cornstarch, Glycerine, Fresh Garlic,Tea Tree Oil, Limonene, Perfume

But what I normally do with any of the Lush face masks is first spray my face with mineral water, and then apply the mask. That way I use less of the product and I really do enjoy massaging it into my skin, personally I’ve always found the mask to be more effective that way.

I think if you have an allergy to tee tree (or essential oils in general) then this might not be the mask for you. My skin can change at the flipp of a hat depending on my mood from oily to super dry, and no matter what state my skin is it always leves my skin feeling moisturised, refreshed and with slightly less redness and acne.

You can get this mask at any Lush shop or here

Sloth Nails

Of course, the first thing I thought of once I’d finished these was…perfect for a first date! (Just kidding). When I was trying to think of an idea for how the nails for Sloth would look the image that came into my head was something like a car being left in a shed to collect dust and bugs. So obviously, the next thing to do was put them on your nail.

I imagined someone who, once had had potential, but couldn’t be bothered to develop them and let their talents rot

With the makeup look of this I thinking of going for a bit of a lazy sleeping beauty, so once nice makeup, but out of laziness, could be bothered to remove it and over time dust, mold and bugs end up making their home in the hair and makeup.

Hope you like the tutorial :)

Klaire’s Wardrobe: Brenton Sailing Cap

One seriously annoying thing about having a large head is that finding ay kind of hat to fit you is a right pain in the neck. The only thing more annoying than that is when people don’t believe you, graduation uniform guy…I’m looking at you!

My parents were absolutely lovely and got this for my birthday recently. I’d been eying it for months since realising they (ebay) had it in my size, 60-61 cm, but I wanted to make a few little changes.

I’m not a fan of plastic. Hate the feel of it and I don’t particuallarly appreciate how it looks.

I’ve had this old coat for year where I’d changed the buttons to these beautiful silver buttons. Recently it finally died on me after months of hobbling on and rough patch-ups, and I though the buttons would be perfect to move onto the cap.

Yea, as you can see I’m really happy with the results! :) Now I just need to figure out what to do with the remaining four buttons…hehe…maybe buy a few more caps?

You can get the cap here

Tutorial Props Haul: Steam Punk Glasses

With a lot of my videos I start planning them months in advance. Just like my planned re-make of my Geisha tutorial, a steam punk look is something I’ve wanted to do for a while now, so I’ve started off with getting these glasses.

I’m going to tweek them a little, maybe add a steam-punked lazer on the side?

As cliché as is it I am going to add a few cogs and bolts to it, I’ve been saving some beautiful little bronze cogs from an old watch I’ve had for years so I could uses them on something like this.

I’m kinda hoping to get more than one steam-punk look out of this. I definately want to do a (female) steam-punk pirate but I also really want to do a nutty proffessor look. Really want an excuse to go all Dr. Emmet Brown in a tutorial.

I got the glasses here

£25 Challenge: Foundation Routine

I think most of you know that on a day to day basis I can’t be bothered with any kind of makeup. This is for several reasons, A. I’d rather have a good sleep rather than get up early to slap on makeup and B. Personally I found that by not wearing makeup my confidence improved.

I like my foundation to cover the nasties but also to feel like I’m not wearing anything

A few years ago I was the complete oposite, my skin was going through a really bad phase of acne decoration, and I ended up using my makeup like a mask. Eventually I got fed up of it, and decided that if some one wasn’t going to talk to me because of my zits then they weren’t worth talking to.

Though this tutorial is a LOT more than what I usually wear, normally I just cover the redness on the outer corners of my eyes and cover a few spots, but for all my £25 Challenge looks this is the foundation routine I’ve been using.

Hope you like the tutorial :)

NOTW: Copper

NOTW: Nails Of The Week

My favourite nail varnish! If there was one animal (well…bird) that described my personality it would be a Magpie. I loooove shiny things! And this nail varnish is my favorite. The only draw back is it is slightly hard to remove, a little bit like a glitter nail varnish, but not as tough.

I like that this colour has a few “sub-colours” red, purple and even a bit of green.

I’m not normally very fond of gold, as far as jewellry goes I don’t own any gold coloured jewlery because I fid it a very garish and a flat colour, but this one I absolutely love. The many flecks of colour make it so fascinating to flash in the sunlight.

I love wearing this colour in the summer, especially if the weather is nice. I could spend ages just staring at the sun reflecting of all the becautiful colours in this. Sad I know, but it’s so pretty!

Makeup Storage: Clear Acrylic Lipstick Organiser

Though my bedroom wouldn’t show it, I really like having things organised. When ever I’m working all hell breaks loose, but when it comes to how things are stored I HATE having things rattling around inside drawers.

I don’t like my makeup getting dirty or damaged, so these were perfect.

So recently went ahead and bought some acrylic organisers, and I’m so glad I did! Last time I went to London I had a look to see if there were acrylic organisers in MUJI but couldn’t find any.

Being an e-bay addict I had a look and found these (ebay for the win!) and got myself three, and absolutely love them! My lipsticks don’t rattle around the drawer any more and I can clearly see all the colours.

Seven Deadly Sins: Wrath

True story? I LOVE doing looks like this, just pure messines and geting to go all ugly in the pictures, no focus on pretty or presentable. Just pure crazy!

It was really nice to not wear any kind of foundation or BB Cream.

Another true story, one of my soft box lights (well be bulb) broke half way through filming. I wasn’t able to re-film this look since for the late two weeks the ceiling of the room I film in was being removed for having asbestos and I’ve only just had the ceiling put back. Thank God of backups eh?

I know I don’t normally do hairstyle videos but for this one I made an exception and I’ll be uploading the tutorial (or making it live for everyone) on Saturday but blog followers get to see it early here :)

The horns were really easy to make and I have a tutorial for them here.

Wish I could claim to have made the fake gauge earrings but got those beauties from e-bay, really squeezing my brain to think of an other tutorial I can use it in, maybe a Pirate look?

The next look I’ll be doing in this series will probably be Sloth or Gluttony, something a little ‘calmer’ than this haha, plus I’ll finally get to show off my weird woodlice nails.

Hope you like the tutorial :)

I know a lot of you are looking forward to the Wrath look but this weeks video is going to be a small giveaway. I know it’s a small giveaway but after IMATS I’ll have put together some really beautiful sets to give away. The rules are simple:

  • ONE comment per person
  • Giveaway is international as always
  • Giveaway ends on 24th of June
As usual the winner will have their prizes shipped to them by recorded delivery, and the method for picking the winner is simple. Each comment has a number, on the 24th I close the comments, enter the numbers into a random number generator and which ever number it gives me I email the person with that comment number.

So…what do you thinkmy big project is?

NOTW: Racing Green

NOTW: Nails Of The Week

I’m generally pretty lazy when it comes to my nails. Since I do a lot of DIY I don’t generally let them grow long since it’s just a right pain in the neck to keep them clean. But while I’m working on my big project (which I’ll finally be able to share with you at the end of July!) I’ve been letting my nails grow long.

I figured a good way to make me keep them neat would be to blog about a new colour each week.

Pretty much all (appart from 2) of my nail varnishes are from Barry M. So this little series is pretty much going to be a Barry M display session, but they have so many beautiful colours which are seriously underrated, this one being no exception.

In the dark or normal daylight it just looks like a emerald colour but when you put it in the light it’s like the colours from a peacock feather. I originally bought this one at Christmas last year since it was the perfect Christmas colour but it’s also so beautiful in the summer!
