Personalising Your Mobile

A few days ago I was flicking through an old Elle magazine of my sisters and I saw this advert with butterflies in it.

I seemed like a bit of a shame to chuck it so I thought I would do a blog post showing you how to personalise your mobile.

First thing you want to do is cut out the pictures you want on your mobile. It’s easier to cut it out roughly first and then neatly cut it out.

Once you have done this you want to plan out how you want it to be laid out on your mobile.

Take a few minutes to play around with where you want to  position it before you decide, the last thing you want to do is stick it down and then change your mind.

With any clear nail varnish cover the cut out with nail varnish (going over the edges) and one by one stick down the cut outs.

Something you can do which looks quite nice is to overlay the cut outs, just make sure you neatly cut off the parts you don’t want to be covering the underlying cut out.

The best way to do this is to half stick it down and then with a craft knife, carefully, cut it off.

Next take the clear nail varnish again and line around the cut outs and stick rhinestones on to this using a wet cotton bud to pick them up.

Once you’ve done this you can just leave the rhinestones outlining the cut-outs or you can fill in all the empty space.

Another nice detail is to paint a bit of glitter nail varnish (I used Barry M Lavender Nail Paint) on the middle of the cut-outs as a highlight.

And you’re done! :D
You can leave it simple like the one above or you can really bling it out and cover the whole back like the one bellow.

Tips:

  • It’s better to do stuff like this on a cover rather than on the actual phone.
  • DON’T try and use nail varnish remover on the phone (if you do it on the phone). I destroyed my first mobile by accidentally spilling nail varnish on it so don’t do it!

Hope some of you enjoyed this :) <3

This looks awesome! And great for those who don’t have a ‘standard’ phone model so can’t find cases :)

Really great idea! I love how creative you are with just about everything! I love reading your blog posts :) (I’m Sbecky94 from youtube btw) I was wondering, can you do something to do with evanescence on here or youtube? I know you love Amy Lee. I have really wanted to get stuff with their name on it, necklaces, bracelets, shirts, stuff like that, but I can’t buy anything on their website because I live in the UK and can’t find anything on the web and quite frankly is rather dear. Also how to make Amy Lee type clothing/jewellery. I know she makes and designs most of her outfits, but I’m sure you could make your own version. I understand if you don’t want to do this, because not all of your viewers like evanescence or Amy Lee, but thanks for reading this anyway and thank you for all of your hard work!! You brighten my day :D

but the thing is, i’ve tried nail varnish on surfaces like that before…doesn’t it chip off after a while?
